These Former Disney Stars You May Have Forgotten: Then And Now

By: Shelly Grinfeld | Last updated: Mar 17, 2024

How many of these past Disney Channel stars can you list off the top of your head, and how many are you forgetting?  While many of the Disney channel stars have since gone on to become high-profile actors, the same can’t be said for every one of them.

While the star trajectories of actors such as Hilary Duff, and Miley Cyrus have all been well-documented, you may not be as familiar with where your former fan-favorite Disney child actors are now. As we revisit your favorite former Disney faces, can you recognize them all grown up? You won’t believe where some of them ended up.

Andy, Matthew, and Joey Lawrence

Only 90s kids will remember the real-life brothers in 1995’s Brotherly Love, in which the trio played the Roman brothers. But you can’t forget that they were also Disney kids. All three brothers starred in Disney Channel’s Original Movie Horse Sense and its 2001 sequel Jumping Ship. Andy even went on to star in Disney’s The Other Me and Going to the Mat. Where are the brothers now?

There is still brotherly love between them! All three of the brothers have continued to take on acting roles over the years. From time to time, the brothers have hinted at putting together a TV show starring all three of them again, but unfortunately, nothing has come of it so far. We are still holding out hope.

Camilla Belle

Camilla Belle is an American actress born and raised in Los Angeles. She grew up in an English and Portuguese-speaking household because of her Portuguese mother. Her career began in the early 90s and has only continued to blossom. But before we knew her as the accomplished actress and model she is today, she starred as a 14-year-old Sydney Miller in Disney’s Rip Girls.

As you can see she is still wearing the same shade of pink years later and still as beautiful as ever. Since her Disney days, she has worked on countless projects and famous franchises such as Law & Order: Organized Crime and even a Jonas Brother’s music video.

Hillary Duff

Hilary Duff was the star of the famed and popular Disney show Lizzie McGuire. The show aired from 2001 to 2004. Since her days as Lizzie, she has not only developed her music career but has also acted in countless films and television shows such as, ‘How I Met Your Mother’ and ‘Younger.’

Hilary Duff has no signs of slowing down both personally and professionally. She has even gone on to have four kids, in addition to her thriving career. Since 2019 she has been married to musician Matthew Koma, with whom she has had three of her four children. Duff is one of those child stars who was able to retain her fame and celebrity from childhood into adulthood. Not an easy feat! Although we are still waiting for that Lizzie McGuire reboot.

Christy Carlson Romano

This list would not be complete without Christy Carlson Romano, best known from her Disney days for her portrayal of Ren Stevens on Disney Channel’s Even Stevens. She also starred opposite Hillary Duff in Disney’s 2002 original movie Cadet Kelly.  However, we can’t forget her role voicing Disney’s beloved Kim Possible in which she also appeared in the fairly recent live-action movie.

Who can forget her iconic character, Lexi Gold in the 2002 movie ‘Get a Clue’? She portrayed a high school teenager and aspiring journalist who investigates a mystery alongside her classmates after one of her teachers goes missing. We can’t mention Lindsay’s Disney days without recalling Disney’s 2000 film ‘Life-Size‘ either, where she starred alongside Tyra Banks. Banks playing a Barbie, who literally “comes to life.” Can it even get any better than that?

Since her Disney Channel days, Lohan reached a rough patch with some constant partying and reckless behavior in 2007 but she has since found her peace and has gotten back on track. She even got married in 2022 and had a son named Luai. She resides in Dubai but doesn’t shy away from making a trip to the U.S. especially when she is working on a new film. She still loves a good romantic comedy and most notably teamed up with Hallmark for a 2022 Christmas movie called, Falling for Christmas. She even had a cameo in 2024’s new Mean Girls adaptation.
