The Las Vegas Sphere is Finally Here: Inside This Fantastic One-of-a-Kind Venue

After years of construction, a new music venue in Las Vegas at the Venetian Resort, known simply as the “Sphere,” opened its doors September 29, 2023.

The Sphere is certainly a sight to be seen from the outside as it is covered in LED screens that portray wild and beautiful scenes, but the inside of the Sphere is equally, if not even more impressive.

The Sheer Size of the Venue is Astounding

The Sphere is 336 feet tall and 516 feet wide, and features 580,000 square feet of LED screens on the outside and inside, making it the world’s largest high-resolution LED ever made.

The entire Statue of Liberty could fit comfortably inside the Sphere, there is space for 20,000 people to watch the show, and you can actually see the Sphere from outer space!

Unsurprisingly, the Sphere Was Absurdly Expensive to Make

With just one look at this incredible structure, you can tell it was likely extremely expensive to construct.

And in fact, the Sphere, which is the largest spherical structure in the world, cost an incredible $2.3 billion to design and build.

Prospective Uses for the Venue

The Sphere is an entertainment center. It was designed to host concerts, film events, and even some sports games.

The inside of the Sphere has 17,385 seats, as well as a standing-only section, and each and every person inside is able to enjoy the magic of being completely surrounded by a dome of LED screens.

The LED Spectacle Is an Experience on Its Own

Although the venue will mostly be used for concerts, the screens themselves are seriously a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

From abstract art to actual videos of the performers on stage, the LED screens are multifunctional and breathtakingly beautiful.

U2’s Las Vegas Residency

On the opening night of the Sphere, famous rock band U2 played an incredible set for their tens of thousands of fans.

And it won’t be the only show they play there! The Sphere will actually be used as U2’s Vegas residency—the group plans to play 25 shows there from now until the end of the year and four to six shows in 2024.

The Sound Is Just as Impressive as the Lights

In addition to being one of the most impressive light shows ever made, the sound engineering of the Sphere is also absolutely incredible.

With an integrated Holopot system, the Sphere is equipped with haptic technology and 160,000 speakers that allow for crystal clear and even sound to reach every single seat.

A Truly 4D Experience

What’s even more impressive is that the Sphere offers a complete 4D experience—it can create the sensation of wind, temperature change, and even offer scent effects.

Essentially, it creates one of the most specific and special entertainment experiences on the entire planet.

How Much is a Ticket for the Sphere?

You may be surprised to learn that ticket prices for the Sphere won’t break the bank. You can visit the venue for a mere $49 just to see the incredible lights and sound it provides.
