If you’re anything like us, you’ve probably been dreaming about getting married since you were little and have come up with a million ideas on how you want to be proposed. A marriage proposal should be personal, romantic, and well thought out. It is, after all, the first chapter of a life spent with somebody. Let’s take a look at some of the most romantic celebrity proposals and whether or not we would want a proposal like them.
Corbin Bleu and Sasha Clements
You probably recognize Corbin Bleu as the loveable and sweet Chad in High School Musical. Blue is just as loveable in real life and had the most romantic marriage proposal for his girlfriend, Sasha Clements. He proposed in front of Cinderella’s Castle at Disney World and even put the ring inside a glass slipper! What’s more romantic than a magical Disney princess moment?
David Burtka and Neil Patrick Harris
David Burtka proposed to How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris on their way home one day when he asked their driver to pull over and ask Harris to step outside. They had arrived on the street where they first met, and Burtka got down on one knee and proposed. Although simple, the proposal was so thoughtful and a very romantic gesture.
Joe Manganiello and Sofia Vergara
Joe Manganiello perused Sofia Vergara for many years before she gave him a chance. For his proposal, he wanted to incorporate Vergara’s Columbian background and planned his speech in Spanish. Proposing in itself can be extremely daunting, let alone in a language you don’t know! It was such a thoughtful gesture and clearly won Vergara over.
George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin
George Clooney planned his proposal to Alamuddin over a home-cooked meal with a ring hidden in a matchbox. The proposal was like a scene out of a rom-com as Clooney struggled to find the words and eventually ended up asking Alamuddin to light a candle. She found the ring and was surprised and bewildered. Seeing the usually smooth and dapper Clooney so muddled shows how important this was to him.
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard went the untraditional route. They didn’t want to get married until there was full marriage equality in America. So in 2013, when the Defense of Marriage Act was removed, Bell proposed to Shepard in a tweet: “@daxshepard1 will you marry me? Xo #marriageequality #loveislove”. The proposal was unique because Bell proposed to her boyfriend and did it in such an unconventional manner.
Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian
Blink 182’s Travis Barker proposed to Kourtney Kardashian after less than a year of being together. Barker popped the question on a beach sprawled with red roses and candles. There was a photographer present, as well as a videographer in true Kardashian style. What can be more romantic than roses, candles, and a sunset at the beach?
