In tough times like these, movies were all we had to feel a little better about what’s happening around us. We had to rely on movies to cheer us up a little during the lockdown. Let’s take a look at few feel-good comedy movies of 2021 that lifted our spirits.
1. Bad Trip
Bad Trip is your everyday feel-good buddy comedy film that ensures bursts of laughter throughout its almost ninety-minute run. Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the main plot revolves around two friends who take a road trip from Florida to New York so one of them can confess his feelings to his childhood crush. What adds to the fun is when the other friend’s sister chases them throughout because they stole her car. All in all, Bad Trip is a fun film that will surely make you laugh with its hilarious antics.
2. Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar
If you’re a fan of Saturday Night Live (SNL), this movie is surely for you. Starring Kristen Wig and Annie Mumulo in titular roles, the film shows two best friends who embark on an adventure of a lifetime when they decide to step out of their apartment for the very first time. Some critics didn’t like the film very much, but the film offers feel-good humor and provides warm smiles. If anything, watch it for Jamie Dornan, who also stars in the film – but this time without the whips and sticks. Yes, you know what we’re talking about.
3. Locked Down
Locked Down is a film that might be quite relatable as it primarily depicts the realistic situation of being “locked down” in quarantine after the first COVID-19 wave. What adds substance to the story is the struggle of a couple trying to reconnect after their marriage falls apart. Now, what makes this comedy movie hilarious is how they reconnect – by going on a mini-heist to steal a multi-million dollar diamond. Throughout their journey, they rediscover themselves and remember why they fell in love in the first place. Anne Hathaway and Chiwetel Ejiofor star in this romantic-comedy-drama and entertain to the fullest.
4. I Care A Lot
If you’re a lover of black comedy movies, I Care A Lot is for you. Starring Rosamund Pike (of Gone Girl fame) as Marla Grayson, a legal guardian for the elderly. What defines her character is that she’s a crook. A fraud traps the rich elderly for their money by forcefully putting them in a nursing home and taking all their wealth. The plot twist is that her latest victim happens to have ties to a powerful gangster who will stop at nothing to get back at Marla. Drama, thrill, and dark humor are this film’s strong selling points that will keep you on the edge of your seat while you watch the main characters enter into a cat and mouse game.
